From time to time we will air outstanding talks I've either heard or become aware of on the show that we think would be of real value to our listeners, such as today's of Paul Driessen's speech at the Heritage Foundation on the subject of Redefining Sovereignty, specifically on the eco-imperialists who put the earth before people.
Of course, I counldn't help getting stirred up hearing again some of the just plain crazy thinking the radical enviros. Leaving the scientific debate up to those in the field, how could I pass up commenting on Al Gore's campaign of evoking religion and mis-quoting scripture to validate his claims, specifically now found in his documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth"?
As Marc Morano, former Sr. Staff Writer for CNS News, now working with Senator Inhoff and the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, pointed out, at the "Town Hall on the Climate Crisis," held at a New York theater the former Vice President said in the Book of Revelation of the Bible that God said He would destroy all those who destroy His Creation, and that Noah was given a commandment to support biodiversity....chapter and verse please?
The new ager Gore went on to say that, "We are the most powerful force of nature now. We are literally changing the relationship between the Earth and the Sun."
Nothing new here. In his book, Earth in the Balance, he made such statements as, "we feel increasingly distant from our roots in the earth....civilization itself has been on a journey from its foundations in the world of nature to an evermore contrived, controlled and manufactured world of our initiative and sometimes arrogant design.... At some point during this journey we lost our feeling of connectedness to the rest of nature.... We dare now to wonder: Are we so unique and powerful as to be essentially separate from the earth?"
"The spiritual sense of our place in nature predates Native American cultures; increasingly it can be traced to the origins of human civilization. A growing number of anthropologists and archaeomythologists, such as Marija Gimbutas and Riane Esler argue that the prevailing ideology of belief prehistoric Europe and much of the world was based on the worship of a single earth goddess, who was assumed to be the fount of all life and who radiated harmony among all living things. Much of the evidence for the existence of this primitive religion comes from the many thousands of artifacts uncovered in ceremonial sites. These sites are so widespread that they seem to confirm the notion that a goddess religion was ubiquitous through much of the world until the antecedents of today's religions, most of which still have a distinctly masculine orientation...swept out of India and the Near East, almost obliterating belief in the goddess. The last vestige of organized goddess worship was eliminated by Christianity as late as the fifteenth century in Lithuania."
"We are not used to seeing God in the world because we assume from the scientific and philosophical rules that govern us, that the physical world is made up of inanimate matter whirling in accordance to mathematical laws and bearing no relation to life, much less ourselves. Why does it feel faintly heretical to a Christian to suppose that God is in us as human beings? Why do our children believe that the Kingdom of God is up, somewhere in the ethereal reaches of space, far removed from this planet? By experiencing nature in its fullest...our own and that of all creation...with our senses and with our spiritual imagination, we can glimpse, "bright shining as the sun," an infinite image of God."
His answer to the fact that there are 100's of scientists who disagree with his theories on global warming? Calling them "conspiracy theorists who believe the U.S. faked the moon landing in 1969." And then in his controlling fashion stated, "There is no longer any debate. The consensus is as strong as it ever gets in science." Kind of reminds you of his bold and confident comment regarding the internet -- that he created it.
But even more outrageous is how this pro-choice advocate would use scripture as a warning about destroying God's creation ...hello?
Oh, I get it...babies don't count. He's talking about the birds and bees and trees and things.
